Meet the Teacher
Welcome, and thanks for supporting and taking an interest in the youth arts scene! My name is Jake Reichner. I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State, and am happy to continue to call it my home. I received my Bachelor's in Art and English Education from Central Washington University in 2000, and since have acquired a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction as well as National Board Certification in Art. Influencing young artists, and helping people find their creative passion has been an endeavor I am proud to have built my life around. As an artist myself, I know how hard it can be to stay motivated, inspired, and original. Being surrounded by students of any age has kept me invested in the creative process throughout the last 20 years of my life. Teaching to a variety of people ensures we will have a variety of creative problems to solve, and infinite artistic outcomes to enjoy.

Besides visual arts, I continue to pursue a variety of other hobbies: enjoying the outdoors (hiking, camping, fishing, hunting), playing and writing music (guitar, songwriting, drumming) and gardening or building at home with my family. Much of the inspiration and impetus for my art is drawn from these passions. I believe in improvisation, spontaneity, play, revision, and flow, that failure is a part of success and that the ability to adapt is at the heart of the creative process.

Thank you. Please enjoy the work of our students, and support open-mindedness, creativity and the arts wherever you call home.
